Stefanie Merchant is an Analyst at The Asia Group focusing on the political and economic affairs of South Asia. In this capacity, Stefanie assists with research and analytic support for the firm’s South Asia clients, including the technology, manufacturing, energy, transportation, and communications sectors.
Prior to joining The Asia Group, Stefanie worked as a Fellow at National Security Action, where she focused on campaign and legislative outreach. She previously worked at the Center for American Progress (CAP) as a Special Assistant for National Security and International Policy. At CAP, Stefanie worked on East and Southeast Asia foreign policy research and also coordinated CAP’s U.S.-India Task Force in both New Delhi and Washington, D.C.
Stefanie holds a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Pomona College, and is currently completing a Master of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University. She has extensive experience in Asia, including in Singapore, Indonesia, and India. Stefanie is proficient in French.
