Mark and Evan bring a wealth of experience, having served at the highest levels of government, private-sector consulting, law, and academia. “These additions reflect our firm’s commitment to constantly evolve our capabilities and ensure that TAG’s clients receive practical and solution-oriented advice from proven experts and practitioners as they seek to capture new market opportunities in Asia,” said TAG President and Co-Founder Nirav Patel.

“Mark is the modern Indo-Pacific diplomat, having served as a Senior Foreign Service Officer on multiple tours in Asia – most recently as Political Minister-Counselor in New Delhi and previously as Deputy Consul General in Shanghai,” said TAG Vice Chairman and Partner Ambassador Rich Verma. “With his extensive knowledge on India in particular, Mark has an exceptional ability to understand the competing dynamics at play in one of the world’s most vibrant markets. We are excited for Mark to join the firm as a Principal and support our thriving South Asia practice, and know that he will serve as a vital bridge in the execution of our client-service efforts throughout the region.”

“As one of President Obama’s top Asia advisors for six years, Evan brings both deep Asia expertise and a proven track record of providing cutting-edge advice to global financial institutions and corporations,” said Dr. Campbell. “Evan represents a powerful convergence of business, government and academic expertise, giving him a keen understanding of what C-suite executives need to know as they approach complex decisions.”

Mark Tesone: A former Senior Foreign Service Officer at the U.S. Department of State, Mark will join TAG as a Principal, bringing the dual-hatted expertise of both an international corporate attorney and a specialist in Asian affairs. From India and North Korea to China to Southeast Asia, Mark will add to TAG’s capabilities in servicing clients across a variety of sectors throughout the region. As a renowned diplomat, Mark served a total of 22 years in the Foreign Service, including high-level roles in both Washington, DC and critical U.S. missions abroad. In his most recent role overseas, he served as Minister-Counselor for Political Affairs at the U.S. Embassy, New Delhi. Having served in leadership roles at some of the largest U.S. missions overseas, Mark will bring his decades of experience engaging business leaders and government stakeholders in key growth markets for U.S. and multinational firms in Asia. Moreover, as an attorney, Mark draws on expertise in the fields of trade and customs law and investor arbitration. In combining his legal and diplomatic trades, Mark will equip TAG with the ability to service a wider range of clients dealing with complex issues across Asia.

Dr. Evan Medeiros: A strategist and a proven senior counselor to C-suite executives around the world on China and Asia more broadly, Dr. Evan Medeiros will join as a Senior Advisor and further elevate TAG’s expertise in markets across the region. A world-renowned expert on Asia, Dr. Medeiros was the key official in charge of Asia policy at the highest levels of the U.S. Government, serving as the principal Asia advisor to President Obama as the National Security Council’s (NSC) Senior Director for Asian Affairs from 2013 to 2015. During six years on the NSC, he was a chief architect of U.S. Asia policy, working to strengthen bilateral alliances and partnerships, craft China policy, and forge stronger, more comprehensive ties with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations – thus providing him with unique perspective on the breadth of challenges facing U.S. companies in the region. Dr. Medeiros most recently brought this experience to the private sector as Managing Director for Asia-Pacific at Eurasia Group. In addition to his role at TAG, he currently serves as the Penner Family Chair in Asian Studies at Georgetown University. He is widely known as a thought leader in the field of East Asian affairs, having published a number of leading books and articles. A political scientist by training, he holds a Ph.D. in international relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science. Dr. Medeiros will further drive TAG’s analytical capabilities on East Asia, ensuring that clients receive premier advice from a leading expert on the region’s most pressing challenges.
